Halo-halo - a Filipino dessert

Halo-halo. No, not the popular game series, but a popular dessert from Filipino cuisine. Not only the taste is irresistible, the look and smell of it are just as enchanting to your senses. Halo-halo, which stands for mix-mix in English, consists of finely-shaved ice and a delightful concoction of sweetners such as shredded coconut, boiled banana chunks and gelatin topped with crispy popped rice and a glob of ice cream, among other yummy tidbits like jelly beans, skittles and sweet-sour sauces.

Enough to stir your senses of sight, smell and taste, all in once...

Lahore Zoo publishes its first newsletter

This November, Lahore Zoo started publishing its first publication, a quarterly newsletter. Well, it is not that great in graphics and context, but for a zoo located in Pakistan, this is an important milestone. Lahore Zoo has became a zoo of international value in 2004, when it was granted a membership by WAZA and also hosted the fifth conference of SAZARC.

Apparently Lahore Zoo never had a good resolution logo of itself...but Wikipedia does...

Community of Wikipedia

Wikipedia is one of the most visited sites on the web and it is one of the finest examples of public resourced data sites out there. Every six hours, more than 2,000 user accounts are made on Wikipedia. However, only 8% of those actually remain active. Sadly, there have been very few active contributors from Pakistan.

Thanksgiving Dinner, 2010

I love exploring different cultures. There had been fun festivals this month. On November 11, it was the Pepero Day in South Korea. It's a decent event in which you give away chocolate cookie sticks to your close ones. From November 16 to 19, there was Eid-ul-Adha, a three day holiday event celebrated by Muslim community.

Dinner in making
Last week, there was a Thanksgiving Day. The harvest festival originated in North America, it is celebrated around the world. In USA, it falls on fourth Thursday of November; while in Canada, it is celebrated in second Monday of October.

New A Level Physics book

Like if we are not hating ourselves too much already, a brand new Physics book for A/AS Level shows up. Guess what? It is published by Cambridge International Examinations itself (CIE). Good timing shitheads. Arrived in shops just after we gave are extra-hard exams in May/June 2010. Remember the hall probe thing in P5. Look up into indexes of each one of your trusted books and you will find absolutely nothing. But this new book has it all, perfectly made for Cambridge A Level students. Engaging topics, colorful graphics, full syllabus, practical guidance, moderate difficulty questions, formula sheets, it has everything. It also comes with an effing computer disc. Good luck to our juniors - you guys will never know how lucky you are. Do yourself a favor and buy this already. Time is going to pass too quickly. The price is in the line of Rs. 2,000/- at Iqbal Book Depot, Main Market, Lahore. Sorry, I could not remember the actual price. Have a look on the front cover below.

And so the blog begins

Hello fellas! I am a medical student who resides in Pakistan. This is my first attempt at making a blog. I would share my thoughts about different topics which might interest students of my age. I will talk in English, not too simple but not too complex either. I shall write reviews on a wide array of topics on weekly basis. Travel, cuisine, fitness, gadgets, furniture, nature, websites, books, music, controversial topics, viral videos, causes like environmentalism etc. So please follow me and also suggest me ideas. If you have a blog, I will love to follow it because I like reading a lot. Thanks in advance. Cheers. :)
I am also on Facebook (Farjad15), YouTube (FarjadRocker) and Wikipedia (Farjad0322).
